Glass Candy's album Beat Box BEATBOX is a mesmerizing and energetic exploration of electronic music. The duo, consisting of Johnny Jewel and Ida No, have created a seamless blend of disco, new wave, and synth-pop that is both retro and futuristic.
The album's opening track, "Beatific," sets the tone with its pulsating beat and Ida No's ethereal vocals. The following tracks, "Digital Versicolor" and "Rolling Down the Hills," continue the upbeat and danceable vibe of the album.
One of the standout tracks is "Miss Broadway," a cover of a 1977 disco hit by Belle Epoque. Glass Candy's version is a sultry and seductive interpretation that showcases Ida No's vocal range.
The album's closing track, "Brittle Women," is a haunting and atmospheric ballad that provides a perfect contrast to the rest of the album's high-energy tracks.
