Japanese folk singer-songwriter, and actress. Born: 18 May 1957 in Hita City, Oita Prefecture, Japan. A pioneer of the folk-boom in 70s Japan, Hako Yamasaki has had an intensive output, releasing 22 albums from 1978 to 2011. After the folk-boom passed in the 80s and Japan culturally moved to city pop, largely due to the booming economy, Yamasaki almost came close to homelessness due to the underwhelming sales of her albums. She transferred to the label in 1985, releasing four albums until falling into a 3½ year hiatus before releasing SAûSUûGA in 1990.
